How Our Story Began...

Our story begins with Larry and Anita Michels and their four children: Tara, Francesca, Joseph and Jeffrey. Larry had been making high-end custom cabinetry for years when he was given the opportunity to have his own shop. With just a line boring machine and a saw, he and the rest of the family began a new venture, each helping out in their own way. Always thinking towards the future, we took a chance by purchasing a CNC machine to more precisely reproduce identical multiple parts. Soon, we realized the need for custom storage was growing and that Larry could bring his skill and experience as a cabinet maker to the closet industry.

In 1996, A Place for Everything Closets was born. The shop has grown to include a second CNC router and elaborate computer design systems; and Larry personally evaluates every job to verify it for design and construction. The staff, like a second family to the Michels, has grown, and Jeffrey has expanded the company's business to the Knoxville area. Recently, we have branched out into the Abingdon, VA, and Asheville, NC, areas.

Every custom storage solution we manufacture is backed by a lifetime guarantee. We even have a patented drywall anchor, the Ghostud™; it's so handy that we use it in practically every installation, as it has been down-shear tested up to 800 pounds. Today, the shop manufactures and installs custom closet and storage systems in a large area around our facility in Kingsport, TN.
