As a company East TN homeowners have trusted for custom closets & storage, Everything Closets has always been built around one simple idea: create high-quality storage that genuinely works for the way people live.
Since 1996, that idea has grown from a small family operation into a team serving Knoxville, Kingsport, the Tri-Cities, and surrounding East Tennessee communities. The company still designs around the individual home, manufactures locally in Kingsport, and manages projects through professional installation.

Everything Closets began with a focus on craftsmanship, useful design, and building storage around the way homeowners actually live. Those principles continue to guide the company today as the team serves homes throughout Knoxville, Kingsport, the Tri-Cities, and the wider East Tennessee region, transforming homes with custom closets.
Our Story
Our story begins with Larry and Anita Michels and their four children: Tara, Francesca, Joseph, and Jeff.
Larry spent years building high-end custom cabinetry before the opportunity came to start a shop of his own. With just a saw, a line boring machine, and the help of his family, they began building something from the ground up.
From the beginning, there was a focus on doing things better. Investing in tools, improving precision, and staying ahead of where the industry was going. That led to the early adoption of CNC technology, allowing for more accurate and consistent results across every project.
As the demand for custom storage grew, it became clear that the same level of craftsmanship used in cabinetry could bring something different to the storage industry, specializing in custom closets.
In 1996, A Place for Everything Closets was born.
